BN wins Batang Ai by-election shows -No room for PKR in Sarawak and Victory an endorsement of Najib.
BN candidate Malcom Mussen Lamoh polled 3,907 votes beating PKR's Jawah Gerang who managed 2,053, delivering the ruling coalition a 1,854-vote majority.
In the 2006 state elections, the late Datuk Dublin Unting of BN retained the seat with a 806-vote majority

"This is the end of the beginning for PKR. There was so much talk about the rural folks, particularly the Ibans, being anti-BN and anti-establishment but my people have clearly expressed their trust in the BN government.
"I promise them that I will serve to the best of my ability and ensure that the standard of living is gradually improved. This is my pledge in return for their trust in BN and me as the candidate," Mussen said.
Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud said the landslide BN victory was a clear indication that the people of Sarawak supported the new prime minister.
Parti Rakyat Sarawak president Datuk Seri Jame Masing, meanwhile, attributed the win to BN's ability to stand united against its adversaries.
"This is BN's victory and it proves beyond any doubt the people's continued trust in our ability to govern this state and the country well.
"Our detractors can say anything that they want but at the end of the day what matters is the rakyat.
""We may have our shortcomings but in the BN we work as one family."
