ALI IS OUT but ALI is not a scapegoat

UMNO Disciplinary Board and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in its move to form a clean party and society, had taken the following actions against:-

> Datuk Seri Mohd Rustam barred from contesting after he was found guilty of breaching party ethics.

> He will be allowed to remain as Malacca Chief Minister.

> Datuk Seri Dr.Khir Toyo cleared and Khairy Jamaluddin found guilty but given just a warning.

Ali, 59, was involved in a three-cornered fight vs Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Tan Sri Muhammad Taib for UMNO`s deputy president post.

Ali who is also Malacca Chief Minister, garnered 46 nominations to contest the post vis Muhyiddin 91 and Muhammad 46.

The board was independent and not even the party's supreme council could interfere with its decisions. The independence of the board is to ensure the good name of Umno.

The board denies conspiracy.

Najib said ,` Ali was not made a scarpegoat by UMNO in its crackdown on vote buying in the party election campaign. `

` We have to sacrifice in party`s interests`.

`We want UMNO to be seen as a clean party`

` If we don`t change, we will be changed.`

He added that Mohd Ali would also continue as election head for Kuala Sepetang, a state constituency under the Bukit Gantang parliamentary seat, for the upcoming by-election there.

Najib also said that Mohd Ali's fate now rested with the panel of appeal and whether or not a decision would be made before the party polls was up to the panel.

Meanwhile Ali said `
I accept decision with an open heart`

`I hope that this will strengthen UMNO. I am a party man and I will sacrifice anything for the party, even my life and soul.`

Hishammuddin said that he was impressed with Mohd Ali’s leadership among the younger generation of leaders.

I am touched by his demeanour in this sad affair where at the same time, one cannot be above the party regulations and decision,” he added.

No one is above the law. We must accept and respect the board`s decisions as winds of change as something positive towards forming a clean party and eventually a clean and ethical society.Do not salivate conspiracy theories. It is not a political ploy. There is no sacrificial scapegoat.
